Iranian Mosque, Bur Dubai

The Iranian Mosque in Bur Dubai, also known as the Iranian (Garashi) Hosainia or Ali Ibn Abi Talib Mosque, is a significant Shia religious site situated near the old Textile Souk in the Bur Dubai district of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Completed in 1979, this mosque was built to serve the Iranian Shia community residing in Dubai and stands as a symbol of their cultural and religious heritage. Architecturally, the mosque is inspired by traditional Persian design, making it distinctive within Dubai’s architectural landscape.

It features a colorful exterior and interior, with its façade and onion dome adorned with extensive Persian faience tilework set against an azure blue background. The decoration includes floral patterns and Quranic calligraphy in vibrant colors such as green, yellow, red, and white, displaying intricate artistry typical of Persian mosques.

The mosque’s design and structure reflect elements of quasi-Fatimid and Persian artistic styles, blending religious devotion with cultural aesthetics.
