Cayan Tower

Cayan Tower, formerly known as Infinity Tower, is a 306-meter (1,004 feet) tall residential skyscraper located in Dubai Marina, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The tower comprises 75 floors and is renowned for its unique helical shape, which twists a full 90 degrees from the ground to the top, making it the tallest twisted tower in the world when it was inaugurated in 2013.

Designed by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the tower's distinctive design involves rotating each floor plate 1.2 degrees around a cylindrical elevator and service core, creating a dynamic and striking visual effect on Dubai's skyline.

Cayan Tower's innovative form is not only aesthetic but functional, reducing wind forces on the building and minimizing solar heat gain, which benefits energy efficiency and occupant comfort. The tower contains 495 luxurious residential units, ranging from studios to four-bedroom apartments including duplexes and penthouses, all designed to maximize panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai Marina.

The interiors feature high-quality finishes like reconstituted wooden floors and Chinese synthetic marble countertops. Amenities include a landscaped podium, outdoor infinity pool, tennis courts, gymnasium, children's play areas, retail outlets, and 24-hour security, offering residents a high standard of living.

The tower's structure relies on a reinforced concrete exterior column system clad with perforated metal panels that shield interiors from intense desert sun, and an internal core that houses mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems arranged to accommodate the twist.

The foundation work faced challenges, including flooding during construction caused by a breached retaining wall, which delayed progress. Since its completion, Cayan Tower has garnered several awards for architectural innovation and sustainability, standing as a landmark of contemporary engineering and design in Dubai's rapidly evolving urban environment.
