Almas Tower

Almas Tower is a 68-storey supertall skyscraper located in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) district of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It reaches a height of 360 meters (1,181 feet) and was completed in 2008.

The tower is situated on its own artificial island within the JLT Free Zone complex, serving as the tallest building in the development and one of Dubai's iconic commercial office towers. It was designed by the architectural firm Atkins Middle East and constructed by Japan's Taisei Corporation in joint effort with Arabian Construction Company.

The tower's distinctive design is inspired by the shape of brilliant-cut diamonds, reflected in its multi-faceted podium and elliptical twin towers that overlap around the central core.

Almas Tower is primarily used for commercial purposes, housing key players in Dubai's gemstone and commodities industries, including the Dubai Diamond Exchange, Dubai Pearl Exchange, Dubai Gems Club, and offices for the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC).

The building features high-security measures, conference rooms, and specialized facilities for diamond cutting, trading, and certification processes, reflecting its role as a global hub for the jewels and precious metals market. It incorporates a three-story podium sculpted into eight interlocking triangles to evoke facets of a diamond, topped by twin elliptical towers with a prominent 81-meter steel spire marking its highest point.

The tower comprises five basement levels, three podium floors, 60 commercial floors, and three mechanical floors. Its floor plan is unique, featuring two diagonally offset elliptical shapes with a taller southern component that creates a visually asymmetric structure.

The building is engineered with a focus on strength, serviceability, and occupant comfort, including wind and vibration assessments to ensure stability. Almas Tower remains a landmark of Dubai's skyline and symbolizes the city's status as a leading global center for diamond and commodities trade.
