The Green Planet is an indoor bio-dome and tropical rainforest located in the City Walk area of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Opened in 2016 by Meraas Holdings, it is designed to replicate a natural tropical ecosystem and houses over 3,000 plants and animals, including birds, reptiles, and fish.
The bio-dome spans approximately 60,000 square feet and features a unique cube-shaped structure with a glass cylindrical section and a visually distinctive exterior covered with small circular apertures. At its center stands an 82-foot-tall artificial tree, one of the tallest fabricated trees in the world, accompanied by an artificial waterfall.
Visitors enter the bio-dome on the fourth floor and descend via a spiral walkway that takes them through different rainforest layers, from the canopy to the forest floor and flooded areas.
The Green Planet is home to various exotic species such as sloths, toucans, flying foxes, anacondas, and other rare fauna, all living in carefully controlled environments that simulate their natural habitats. It serves both as an educational and recreational facility, offering interactive experiences including animal feedings and guided tours that emphasize biodiversity and conservation.
The Green Planet is also notable for its certification under global green building standards, specifically LEED, meeting Dubai Municipality’s environmental regulations. It provides an immersive and safe environment for visitors of all ages to learn about tropical ecology and environmental sustainability while offering a refreshing nature escape within the urban landscape of Dubai.
The museum is part of Dubai’s broader efforts to combine innovative urban development with environmental awareness and conservation.
Dubai proves that tourism thrives on trust, safety, and scale.
