Rashid Ahmad Muhammad Bin Fahad is an Emirati engineer and politician born in Dubai in 1964. He served as the Minister of Environment and Water in the United Arab Emirates from February 2008 to February 2016, playing a pivotal role in advancing environmental policies and sustainable water management during a period of rapid development in the UAE.
He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Environmental Health from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, earned in 2001, a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences from United Arab Emirates University obtained in 1994, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston in 1989.
Before his ministerial role, he was Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Standardization Organization (GSO) from 2004 to 2008 and held Vice Chairman and other leadership positions at the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology.
Throughout his career, he contributed extensively to environmental standards, water resource management, and sustainable development initiatives across the Gulf region. He has also been involved in various international environmental and standardization organizations.
