Ahlam bint Ali bin Hazeem Al Shamsi, commonly known as Ahlam, is a renowned Emirati singer and actress born on February 13, 1969, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
She comes from a culturally rich background with an Emirati father, Ali Al Shamsi, who is a folk singer, and a Bahraini mother. Ahlam spent part of her childhood in Bahrain before returning to the UAE to continue her education.
Her musical talent was apparent early on, and she was encouraged by the Kuwaiti composer Anwar Abdullah, who helped launch her professional career. She signed her first contract in 1993 and released her debut album "Ahbak Moot" ("I Love You Till Death") in 1995, followed by many successful albums throughout her career.
She is celebrated for her musical contributions across the Arab world, particularly in the Gulf region. She has released over a dozen albums and numerous singles, earning titles such as "The Queen" and "Gulf Artist" due to her status and influence in Arab music.
Her accolades include being crowned Queen of Arab Art at the Doha-Qatar Festival in 2003, and she has performed at major international festivals in France, the United States, and the United Kingdom. In addition to her singing career, she has served as a judge on popular television music competitions such as MBC's Arab Idol for four seasons and The Voice: Ahla Sawt, helping to shape new generations of Arab talent.
Ahlam is married to Mubarak Al-Hajiri, a Qatari rally champion, and they have three children together. She is widely recognized not only for her powerful voice and artistic versatility but also for her contributions to elevating Gulf music on the global stage.
