Metropolitan Hotel Dubai, originally established in 1979, is one of Dubai's earliest and most iconic hotels, fondly known as "The Met" by guests. It was the first hotel to be built on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai's now bustling commercial and financial hub.
The original building became a well-loved landmark for over three decades, offering 187 rooms and a range of amenities that made it a home away from home for many visitors. The hotel gained a reputation for its warm hospitality and was often described as "The Friendliest Place in Town."
The original Metropolitan Hotel was demolished in 2012 to make way for the Al Habtoor City development, a large-scale mixed-use complex. In fulfillment of a promise by the Al Habtoor Group chairman to loyal customers, the hotel was reimagined and reopened in a new location on Sheikh Zayed Road in 2016.
The new hotel offers 320 contemporary rooms, including suites, and upgraded facilities such as a rooftop swimming pool, a spa, a well-equipped gym, and multiple dining venues including the iconic Red Lion pub and Don Corleone restaurant. The new Metropolitan blends its historical charm with modern elegance, catering mainly to lifestyle and luxury vacation club members.
It continues to be a favored destination for business and leisure travelers due to its prime location with easy access to Dubai International Financial Centre, Dubai Mall, Jumeirah Beach, and the city’s key attractions. The hotel is recognized for its blend of heritage and innovation, maintaining its special place in Dubai’s hospitality industry.

Traveling teaches you humility by showing you how insignificant you are in the grand scheme of things.
