Dubai English Speaking College (DESC) is a British private secondary school located in Dubai Academic City. It was founded in 2005 by Peter Daly, the first headteacher, starting with just 35 Year 7 students. DESC operates as a sister school to Dubai English Speaking School (DESS), which is Dubai's oldest British school established in 1963.
Initially, DESC was situated at the Oud Metha site along with DESS but relocated to its dedicated campus in Academic City in February 2007. The official opening of the new campus was conducted by the Duchess of Cornwall and Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, Princess of Jordan and Sheikha of Dubai.
Since its inception, DESC has grown significantly and now educates over 1,200 students from Years 7 to 13, offering the National Curriculum for England. The school has maintained a strong reputation and has been rated "Outstanding" by the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau for several consecutive years.
In 2011, Andrew Gibbs became headteacher, leading the school's expansion and academic achievements. He later became the first principal of Dubai English Speaking Schools and College (DESSC), overseeing both DESC and DESS. Chris Vizzard succeeded him as headteacher of DESC.
The school provides a comprehensive British education that prepares students for GCSEs, A-Levels, and university entry, with a focus on academic excellence and personal development. Dubai English Speaking College remains one of Dubai’s premier British curriculum schools, known for its modern facilities, experienced teaching staff, and strong community ethos.
Dubai is a city where scale and comfort coexist effortlessly.
