Abu Dhabi Media, officially known as Abu Dhabi Media Network, is a leading media organization in the United Arab Emirates, established in 1969 under the vision of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Initially founded as Emirates Media, the company was formalized as a government-owned joint stock company in 2007, with significant capital investment from the Abu Dhabi government. Over the years, Abu Dhabi Media has grown to become one of the largest and most influential media companies in the Middle East and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, playing a strategic role in promoting Emirati culture, values, and national identity through a diverse range of media outputs.

Abu Dhabi Media operates across multiple platforms including television, radio, print, and digital media, managing more than 20 brands that cater to different audiences across the UAE and the Arabic-speaking world.

Its assets include popular TV channels such as Abu Dhabi TV, Al Emarat TV, Abu Dhabi Sports Channels, National Geographic Abu Dhabi, and children’s channel Majid TV. The company also operates a variety of radio stations including Radio 1 and Radio 2, Emarat FM, and The Holy Quran Radio, along with print publications like Al-Ittihad and Zahrat Al Khaleej.

The network has embraced digital transformation, offering content through websites, mobile applications, and smart TV platforms that provide live streaming, video on demand, and podcasts, making its programming widely accessible.

The company is governed by a board of directors chaired by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, with leadership focused on innovation, digital-first content strategies, and expanding its educational, news, entertainment, sport, and cultural programming.

Abu Dhabi Media has been involved in significant initiatives such as launching the first English-language newspaper in Abu Dhabi, The National, and establishing a media zone in Abu Dhabi to support international media companies and develop local talent in journalism and filmmaking.
