Zayed University (Abu Dhabi Campus)

Zayed University (ZU) is a public university in the United Arab Emirates established in 1998 by the federal government with the initial mission to educate UAE national women.

Named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding president of the UAE, it has grown to become a leading institution with two major campuses in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The Abu Dhabi campus was completed in August 2011 and is located in Zayed City, covering approximately 188,500 square meters. The Dubai campus, situated in Academic City, has been operational since 2006.

Initially, Zayed University admitted only female national students but opened admissions to male students in 2008, significantly expanding its enrollment and program offerings.

The university offers a diverse range of academic programs through its eight colleges, which include the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises, College of Business, College of Communication and Media Sciences, College of Education, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Natural and Health Sciences, College of Technological Innovation, and the College of Interdisciplinary Studies.

Zayed University provides 17 undergraduate majors, 10 minors, and 10 master's degrees. It supports faculty and student research through funding programs such as Research Incentive Funds and Research Clusters, and it encourages undergraduate research through mentorship programs.

ZU is accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) in the United States, with accreditation renewed through the 2030/2031 academic year.

The university is committed to innovation, leadership, and academic excellence in serving the educational needs of the nation. It provides residential facilities for international students and has a student body of around 10,000, mostly UAE nationals. Zayed University plays a significant role in the UAE's higher education landscape with a focus on bilingual education, research, and community engagement.
