United Arab Emirates University

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is the oldest and largest university in the United Arab Emirates, established in 1976 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding president of the UAE.

The university opened its doors to students in 1977 with four faculties: Humanities and Social Sciences (then known as the Faculty of Arts), Science, Education, and Business and Economics (originally the Faculty of Administrative and Political Science).

Over the years, UAEU expanded its academic offerings by adding faculties such as Shari'ah and Law in 1978, Agricultural Sciences and Engineering in 1980, and Medicine and Health Sciences in 1986. It has evolved into a comprehensive, research-intensive institution committed to innovation and academic excellence.

Located in the city of Al Ain, UAEU serves a diverse student body with approximately 15,000 students enrolled from more than 80 countries.

The university provides a wide array of internationally accredited undergraduate and graduate programs through nine colleges, including Business and Economics, Science, Education, Engineering, Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Information Technology, Law, and Medicine and Health Sciences. UAEU hosts 13 research centers that focus on critical global and regional challenges such as water resources and cancer treatments, and its Science and Innovation Park collaborates with industry and public institutions to offer innovative research solutions.

UAEU is accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and holds international institutional accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). It has been consistently ranked among the top universities in the Arab world and the Gulf region, recognized for its commitment to research, community service, and developing highly qualified graduates.
