Meydan Racecourse

Meydan Racecourse, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is a world-class horse racing venue renowned for its grandeur and state-of-the-art facilities. Officially opened on March 27, 2010, it replaced the former Nad Al Sheba Racecourse, which previously occupied the same site.

The racecourse is a central part of Dubai’s racing culture and is the flagship venue for the Dubai Racing Club, hosting the prestigious Dubai World Cup, the richest horse race in the world with prize money exceeding $26 million. The grandstand at Meydan stretches half a mile in length and can accommodate over 60,000 spectators, making it one of the largest and most impressive racecourse grandstands globally.

Meydan Racecourse is more than just a racing venue; it includes a five-star trackside hotel with 285 rooms, multiple restaurants, a horse racing museum, and a gallery, creating a luxurious experience for visitors.

The racecourse features a 2,400-meter left-handed turf track and a left-handed 1,750-meter dirt course, operating primarily from November through March, when it hosts a series of high-profile racing events including the Winter Racing Challenge and the Dubai International Racing Carnival. The venue is also equipped with advanced technology for real-time timing and spectator engagement, ensuring an immersive experience.

Beyond horse racing, Meydan integrates entertainment and business by functioning as a business and conference center at times.

It has served as a filming location for major films and hosted concerts by internationally acclaimed artists such as Lady Gaga, Elton John, and Kylie Minogue. Meydan Racecourse stands as a symbol of Dubai’s ambition and vision for excellence in sports and entertainment, championed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
