Hamdan Sports Complex

The Hamdan Sports Complex is a multi-purpose sports arena located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, notable for its innovative design and state-of-the-art facilities. Completed in October 2010, the complex spans approximately 24 hectares along Emirates Road and has a seating capacity of 15,000 spectators.

It features two Olympic-sized 50-meter swimming pools—one configurable into two smaller pools with varying depths—and a diving pool with platforms ranging from 1 to 10 meters equipped with underwater cameras and sound systems. The venue is designed to meet the highest international standards, hosting a wide range of aquatic events including swimming, diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming.

Besides aquatic sports, the complex can be transformed into a dry arena to accommodate non-aquatic sports such as badminton, basketball, volleyball, karate, and table tennis, as well as cultural events, concerts, exhibitions, and conferences. Its flexible design includes retractable seating and advanced multimedia systems like LED video walls and large scoreboards to enhance the spectator experience.

The Hamdan Sports Complex has hosted numerous prestigious events such as the 2010 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m), the 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship, and the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Men's U23 World Championship.

The facility also includes a fully equipped gym with modern fitness machines supervised by professionals, offering fitness options to visitors and athletes. Public swimming sessions and swimming programs for children are conducted here, with safety and comfort prioritized through adjustable pool depths and certified lifeguarding. The sports complex is connected to the Al Qudra cycling track, enabling additional outdoor fitness opportunities.

Environmentally sustainable technologies have also been incorporated into the design, including solar-powered outdoor lighting and glass architecture allowing natural light penetration.
