Dubai Parks and Resorts

Dubai Parks and Resorts is a vast integrated theme park resort located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, spanning 25 million square feet. Announced in 2012 and developed by Meraas Holding, the project began construction in 2014 with the vision to create a world-class family entertainment destination.

The resort includes three theme parks—Motiongate Dubai, LEGOLAND Dubai, and Real Madrid World (which replaced Bollywood Parks Dubai)—along with one water park, LEGOLAND Water Park. Complementing the parks is Riverland Dubai, a themed retail and dining district that serves as the resort’s grand entrance, and Lapita Hotel Dubai, a Polynesian-themed family resort managed by Marriott.

The first phase of Dubai Parks and Resorts opened in late 2016, starting with LEGOLAND Dubai and Riverland Dubai in October, Bollywood Parks Dubai in November, and Motiongate Dubai in December, culminating in a grand inauguration on December 18, 2016.

LEGOLAND Water Park and Lapita Hotel opened in early 2017, completing the initial development stage. The resort was built with a budget of approximately AED 10.5 billion and aimed to attract millions of visitors annually, offering over 100 rides and attractions catering to families and thrill-seekers alike.

Dubai Parks and Resorts formed strategic partnerships with major entertainment companies such as DreamWorks Animation, Columbia Pictures, Lionsgate, Merlin Entertainments, and Bollywood studios to bring iconic characters and franchises to life across its theme parks.

Plans for a fourth park, Six Flags Dubai, were announced but ultimately cancelled in 2019. In 2022, the resort introduced Real Madrid World, the world’s first football-themed park, replacing Bollywood Parks Dubai, which closed permanently in 2023. Dubai Parks and Resorts continues to be a focal point of Dubai’s tourism landscape, exemplifying the city’s ambition to offer diverse and immersive leisure experiences for visitors of all ages.
