Ajman University

Ajman University (AU) was established in 1988 as the first private university in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the first in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to admit expatriate students of both genders.

It began under the name Ajman University College of Science and Technology and was later renamed Ajman University of Science and Technology before adopting its current name in 2018. Located in the Al Jurf area of Ajman, close to Khalifa Hospital, the university has grown into a comprehensive institution offering a wide range of academic disciplines, including a fully accredited College of Medicine and College of Law.

Its sprawling campus spans approximately 215,000 square meters and is equipped with extensive sports facilities, a gymnasium, bookstores, health units, dining options, and mosques.

Ajman University has made significant strides in regional and global rankings, consistently ranked among the top universities in the Arab world and the UAE. It achieved global accreditation from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in the United Kingdom, and it was the first private, non-profit university in the Arab region to receive accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), a U.S.-recognized accrediting body.

The university offers 22 undergraduate and 13 graduate programs across nine colleges, including two doctorate degrees, catering to more than 5,500 students each year. It also benefits from strong academic partnerships with global institutions, providing students with opportunities for study abroad and joint degree programs.

In December 2023, Ajman University transitioned from a for-profit to a non-profit institution under an Emiri decree by the ruler of Ajman, granting it legal personality and administrative independence.

This transition aimed to enhance academic and research excellence, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, expand access to education globally, and support economic development in the region. The university has a diverse community with faculty and students from numerous countries and a notable international reputation for inclusivity and academic quality.

It supports scientific research through various research centers and funding initiatives and maintains a broad network of more than 36,000 alumni worldwide. Overall, Ajman University stands as a leader in higher education in the UAE, recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and social impact.

Dubai is where global travelers feel instantly at home.
